The Lake of the Woods Equestrian Center is located on Tally Ho Lane. The Center is open for lessons, pony rides and trail rides year round by appointment, weather permitting. The Equestrian Center is home to LOWA owned lesson horses and ponies and boarded equines. The facilities are comprised of 1 large show ring, 1 covered schooling ring, 5 dry lot paddocks with sheds, 2 barns totaling 21 stalls, 2 wash stalls, tack lockers 2 tack rooms and 2 feed rooms. Services offered include boarding, private and group lessons, pony rides and guided trail rides. Please call 540-972-2238 to schedule a ride.

Spring Break Pony Camp!
April 8-April 11, 10AM – 2PM Daily. Activities for the young, inexperienced rider who wants to learn the basics. Children ages seven and up learn how to ride, tack, and groom horses, and gain knowledge appropriate for their age groups. $300.00 per child for members, $325.00 per child non-member. Summer Programs
Pony Camp: A one-week summer camp program of half-day activities for the young, inexperienced rider who wants to learn the basics. Children ages seven and up learn how to ride, tack, and groom horses, and gain knowledge appropriate for their age groups. Sign up early, these one week sessions fill up quickly! Camp runs from late June through mid-August.
Advanced Show Camp: This one-week only camp session is for young, avid riders ages eight and up who want to learn about all aspects of horsemanship, including English riding theory, course design, and horse care. Advanced campers must be proficient in basic horsemanship. Contact the Equestrian Center for camp date and other requirements for enrollment.

Year Round Programs
Trail Rides: Call us at 540-972-2238 to book a trail ride or email us at EQC@LOWA.org.
Our trail rides are guided at the walk through Wilderness Battlefield. Riders must be at least 12 years old to participate in the trail rides. The maximum number of riders for trail rides is three guests per ride. Due to the size limitations of our horses and ponies, we cannot accommodate guests in excess of 200 lbs. Please call 540-972-2238 for prices and availability.

Pony rides are offered for $15/ ride during normal operating hours and can be scheduled by calling the Equestrian Center main office. Rides are fifteen minutes in duration with riders being hand-guided at the walk. Pony rides are also offered during Equestrian Center Open Houses for just $5 / ride.

2025 Hunter Horse Shows
The Equestrian Center sponsors a Virginia Horse Show Association (VHSA)/ Battlefield Horse Show Association (BHSA) recognized hunter show series. Prize lists and entry blanks are available. Please e-mail pre-entries to EQC@lowa.org Adult and junior students are welcome to participate in horse shows both at home and in the local circuit. Lake of the Woods is proud to host the longest running hunter show series in the Fredericksburg area!
