Alcoholics Anonymous
Learn to live the 12 steps to eliminating alcohol dependency from your life while giving and receiving support from others who care about your success. Open to all who want to learn about alcoholism. Meets at the LOW church Monday at 7pm. Also holding zoom meetings on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 7pm for those who do not want to meet in person. COVID 19 rules for the church must be followed. American Red Cross
The local American Red Cross in Fredericksburg holds a monthly blood drive at LOW. Scheduled dates and times are published in Lake Currents. Usually the fourth Tuesday of the month, every other month. Held in the Clubhouse Lower Level.
Driver Safety Program
LOW Lions sponsor AARP's "Driver Safety Program," a refresher and defensive driving course designed for older drivers age 50 and up. Those completing the course are eligible for a discount on their auto liability insurance, which is good for three years.
Emergency Training Classes
Available through LOW Volunteer Fire and Rescue, an Ambulance Driver Course, EMT training and CPR classes are offered to members who are interested in learning these skills and/or becoming emergency volunteers. Please consult the Fire and Rescue LOW Directory for contacts.
Friends of Lake of the Woods (FLOW)
Friends of Lake of the Woods (FLOW) is an independent 501(c)(3) corporation which was created by a group of like-minded Lake of the Woods property owners who believe it is absolutely essential to add to and improve association infrastructure and amenities to meet the changing needs of the community. FLOW is dedicated to promoting and supporting the LOW community. FLOW assists in enhancing LOW amenities, facilities and beautification projects by raising funds through tax-deductible charitable donations from property owners like you. Income Tax Preparation Services
Sponsored by the LOW AARP Chapter, this program provides free income tax preparation assistance to eligible seniors from January to April 15. See Lake Currents for additional information.
LOWLINC: Living Independently in Our Community
LOWLINC: Empowering adults 55+ to live full and independent lives in their homes at the lake. Volunteer services include: transportation, light home maintenance, tech assistance, friendly visits, education programs, and social activities. LOW Fire & Rescue
Incorporated under Virginia law on August 23rd 1971 with a simple mission "To aid in the protection and preservation of both life and property by maintaining a high degree of efficiency in both firefighting and first aid." Most of our calls come from within the designated area of the Rapidan River on the north, the Spotsylvania line on the east just over Route 20 on the south, and on the west, Route 611 to Burr Hill and then to Route 692 and up to the Rapidan River. Some calls are farther away in the town of Orange where others, on a reciprocal basis, and depending on need are in either Spotsylvania or Culpeper Counties.

Orange County Department of Tourism
The Orange County Department of Tourism stocks the brochure stand located in the vestibule of the Holcomb Building. Volunteers are always needed to meet and greet visitors to Orange County or serve in other ways to promote Orange County Tourism.
Wilderness Food Pantry
The LOW Lions Club sponsors the Wilderness Food Pantry, located at the intersection of Route 20 and Route 611 behind the Market Place shopping center. Significant support is provided by the LOW Lioness Club in holding food drives to solicit donation s of non-perishable food items and cash to keep the pantry stocked with items of area families in need. Donations are welcome at any time. The Food pantry is open several days each month. Eligibility is determined by income. Info: Dave Francis, 972-9657.

Our group supports the ongoing efforts at Alice C.Tyler Village, which is an outstanding residential facility (nationally known) for the treatment and healing of severely abused and neglected children between the ages of 4 and 14. The Village is located in Lignum, just a few miles down the road from us and because of close proximity our volunteer efforts are unique in that we provide direct, personal support for the children residing at the Village.
Four County Players This non-profit volunteer community theater group provides musical, play and concert experience for amateur and professional thespians alike. The players put on several programs a year at the Barboursville Community Center in Barboursville. Current and upcoming show dates and ticket prices can be found on their website

Orange County Habitat for Humanity helps local low-income working families have a decent, affordable place to live by holding fundraisers, soliciting donation of building materials from local businesses, and finding both skilled and unskilled volunteers to help build homes for area families in need.

Welcome to the Lake of the Woods Church! We have three services every Sunday morning. We invite you to try them all and choose the style best suited to you:
8:30 a.m. blended — A service blending elements of traditional and contemporary worship held in the Worship Center.
9:45 a.m. traditional — A traditional worship service with full adult choir in our Sanctuary.
11 a.m. contemporary — Upbeat praise and worship featuring contemporary music in the Worship Center.
Montpelier the former home of James Madison, fourth president of the United States and his wife, Dolley, is located on Route 20, a few miles south of the town of Orange. Orange Recreation Association, a member of the Virginia Youth Soccer Association and USYSA; provides an opportunity for children ages 3 through 18 to learn and compete in playing soccer. The fall season runs from mid-August to November. The spring season runs from mid-March to June.
Project EXCEL Volunteers for Project EXCEL donate one hour a week to work with selected local elementary and middle school children in grades kindergarten through sixth to help improve reading, math or science skills.
