Lessons and Social Clubs
Pickleball and tennis activities are coordinated by the Pickleball/Tennis Committee (P/Tec), the Pickleball Club and the Tennis Club.
Many of the Lake of the Woods (LOW) players are members of USA Pickleball and/or members of the U. S. Tennis Association (USTA).
The LOW Pickleball Club (LOWPBC) is socially active and welcomes all adults 18 years of age and older. Pickleball is played with a paddle and a whiffle-style ball, and is typically enjoyed as a doubles game. It can be played and outdoors on LOW's well-maintained courts. Adult Pickleball is held indoors at the Community Center, Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Please note that hours may vary, so we recommend calling ahead to confirm availability.
Free Beginners Classes are offered on Thursdays from 10:10AM to noon and occasional Saturdays at the Community Center without requiring an amenity or Club membership. The club has equipment, including paddles, that can be used if you would like to give this sport a try. You must be an amenity member in order to join the Pickleball Club. Club membership is required to gain access to Sign-Up Genius, which allows members to sign up for court times and join organized events, such as Deal Pickle, a non-competitive way to learn the game and meet other club members, Ladder League on Sundays, or our social events.
Rules and procedures for tennis play are posted at the outdoor courts. Tennis socials are held in June, July and August. Socials are published in the Lake Currents. If anyone would like to be included in the tennis directory to learn more information, please contact [email protected] for further information or by calling 540-972-2237.
