Ditch maintenance is crucial for the longevity and effectiveness of our roads. Removing leaves and branches allows water to flow freely, preventing blockages and potential flooding. While some residents actively maintain their ditches, many may not realize this responsibility or how to manage it effectively. I want to express my gratitude to those who keep their ditches clear.
To bolster our community’s ditch maintenance efforts, Lake of The Woods Facility Maintenance should invest in a leaf removal truck, either through a permanent asset or a preferably a seasonal lease. Implementing a specific date for residents to blow leaves into their ditches for scheduled removal would streamline the process and encourage participation. This initiative would not only educate residents about their responsibilities but also foster community involvement.
Prioritizing ditch maintenance can enhance drainage effectiveness and contribute to the overall safety and well-being of our neighborhood. By working together, we can ensure that our ditches remain clear and functional, benefiting everyone in the community. Thank you again to those who actively participate, and let’s encourage others to join in this important effort.

We were planning to play 9 holes on 28 November, but the weather didn't cooperate. Instead, we tried the Proshop's new "Hole 0" simulator. Wow, what a great decision!
First, we warmed up by selecting the "Driving Range" option. After a few shots, we selected the "Compete" option and chose to play a "Scramble" format. The grandkids hit from the forward tee boxes while my son-in-law and I hit from the White tees. The simulator lets you team up accordingly. You can even assign handicaps to each player if you so desire. After each team player hits, the simulator allows you to pick the best shot and keeps track of which player/team is up next. You can choose famous courses to play or use the computer-generated course. You can putt or, to speed up play, choose an "Auto Putt" option that gives you either one or two strokes depending on how close you are to the pin once on the green. We chose "Auto Putt".
Great way to spend an hour or two with the grandchildren and, as an added bonus, Fareways staff serves food and beverages in the viewing area. Golf, French toast and hot chocolate. What a great way to spend a morning!

Celebrating Thanksgiving at home with traditional recipes has always been important to me. But this year we decided to take the family to the Clubhouse for Thanksgiving dinner and I’m glad we did. We arrived on time and were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. The buffet tables were loaded with an amazing selection of food. Our group of 15 included vegetarians, picky and adventurous eaters—everyone was satisfied and that’s saying something! There were the traditional favorites—turkey and stuffing, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, etc. You could also try fried oysters, ham and roast beef. The fruit and salad bars were amazing. Plus, there was a plethora of desserts and no one left hungry. The wait staff was so friendly and attentive that it felt more like a sit-down dinner than a buffet. Thank you Clubhouse staff and management for a Thanksgiving experience our family will not forget—and without the joy of cooking and clean up! P.S. any rumors about the Clubhouse not being up to the highest standards are FAKE NEWS! Lake of the Woods has a Clubhouse we can all be proud of!
